Books & what I learned/am learning || What happened on Vacation {{AMAZING}}

-A passage to India
-Mother & Child project
-One Woman's quest
-Beautiful Girlhood
[not pictured]
-One Child's Journey out of Autism
-Keeping Secrets (an amish novel)
-Migrant Girl

I've liked reading this month. It was a little easier finding books that were good, most of these Ashley had already read, so I knew they were decent. "Beautiful Girlhood" was a good read, very simple but truthful. And "Migrant Girl' was also very simple, so I liked it!
I've been learning a lot about Special Needs. I learned so much reading the book about Autism, how to calm children (with Autism) down, certain things that affect them, diets, mercury, etc.  I have also been learning a lot about Downs Syndrome. How their extra chromosome makes it more difficult to talk, and even move muscles. They seem to be such happy people though, they always seem to make me smile just being around them. <3

Which brings me to, what happened on vacation.
Our very last night there, me and my brothers were up swimming in the pool. It was very close to our condo, so we were really happy! A little Downs Syndrome girl comes and gets in the water, and immediately comes over to me. The Mom kept apologizing, but I told her that it's completely fine, since I'm basically a child magnet! I played with her for a little while, she repeated everything I did, which was cracking us up!! She had the cutest smile. She was 8, and loved the water. We were buddies! Her parents kept thanking me over and over, and even said that I needed to be a Special Needs teacher!! Which, I've also been thinking about, and learning about.
It was just really amazing, having an opportunity to show love like that. And then the story goes on...
As we were packing up the next day, they were also packing up! In fact, our vehicles were right by each other, so we got to talk quite a bit! We are hoping to be able to get to know them better.
It was just a really amazing thing, making new friends and being able to show love to someone. They were so sweet! I hope we'll be able to see them sometime, I think about them a lot. <33

Have you ever interacted with someone Special Needs?
I'll probably do more posts about Special Needs. What did you think of this post?
Any opportunities to show love lately?

  4. I've read some of those books, but the rest sound good as well. That's for sharing that story! That's a precious experience and witness to the other family. Those 'coincidences' where God is totally working are the best. :)

I'm interested to read more posts about special needs. It's something God has been changing my heart about, and I'm eager to learn!

My uncle is actually special needs. He is 24 and has downs syndrome. I totally grew up with him, so I never thought of it as weird or anything. He is so cool and brings a lot of laughs and fun stuff into our family!!! I wouldn't trade him for a "regualar" uncle!

    1. That's so cool! Exactly. I think that even people born with disabilities are normal, they were just born that way, just how I was born the way I am and so on. I want the world to view it like that too. Thanks for commenting, Susanna ♥

  6. Awwww, that is sooo awesome you got to minister to the little girl! Many people just shrug those people off that have problems and they are mean to them and try not to look at them, but they are verrrrry special and God made them the way they are!! They are precious in God's eyes and they are equal to us in God's eyes! Veryyyyy awesomeee Paige! Yes, the ranch I ride at had some special needs people come out and ride and it was a lot of fun and they had a blast riding the horses!! FUN TIMESSS! Ashley has Beautiful Girlhood, but I have never read it. I probably should read it though lol! I have read 5 big books this summer, well I think it was in the past 2 or 3 months actually lol! Ok, will check the other book out. Thanks for posting this!

I am also blessed and feel privileged and honored to get connected with you as well as know you through your profile on the blogger and the blog post. I was so taken up to see the book " Passage to India" Trust you have gone through it and are motivated to visit the missions field in India. You are preparing to go to Africa after your midwife training. It would be great if you visit India and have exposure to a mission field in the third world country. We would love to have you come to work with us during your vacation time. I am sure it will be a life changing experience for you. I love getting connected with the people of God a round the globe to be encouraged, strengthened and praying for one another. I have been in this city of last 38 yrs a city with a great contrast where richest of rich and the poorest of poor live. We reach out to the poorest of poor with the love of Christ to bring healing to the brokenhearted. We also encourage young and the adults from the west to come to Mumbai to work with us during their vacation time. I hope after reading the book titled "The Passage To India" you will prayerfully consider to come for a short missions trip to work with us. My email id is: dhwankhede(at)gmail(dot)com and my name is Diwakar Wankhede. Looking forward to hear from you very soon. God's richest blessings on you, your family and friends.
